Vienna, Austria — in Tamil or English

You probably need a ride. a photographer. a decorator. a website. a guide. a hand.

I'm Kumar — a software engineer in Vienna who has picked up a lot of useful things along the way. Weekends and evenings, I help people here with the stuff that's hard to arrange when you're new, busy, or planning a function.

What I do

Six things I'm actually good at

Everything below is something I've already done — for family, for friends, or for work. If your request isn't on the list, ask anyway. If I can't do it well, I'll say so and try to point you to someone who can.

Transport & moving
Transport & moving

Getting things — and people — from A to B

Moving flats in Vienna is misery without a second pair of hands and a car boot. That's most of what this is.

  • Moving day help
  • Furniture pickup
  • IKEA runs
  • Flat-pack assembly
  • Mistplatz drop-offs
  • Shared airport runs

€25–35/hour for moving help · fuel shared separately

Worth knowing: in Austria, charging a fare for a ride is a licensed trade (Taxi- or Mietwagen-Konzession). I don't hold one, so airport and long trips are cost-shared between people who know each other — fuel and tolls, split. If you need a real taxi, book a real taxi.

Photos that don't look like phone photos

Functions, family shoots, and the passport photo that keeps getting rejected. You get the full-resolution files, not a watermarked preview.

  • Events & functions
  • Baby & maternity
  • Family portraits
  • Profile photos
  • Drone footage
  • Passport & visa photos
  • Reels editing

From €60 for a short shoot · event packages €160–360 on the photography page · edited files within a week

Your function, actually organised

Baby showers, housewarmings, birthdays, poojas. Somebody has to chase the cook, hang the backdrop and keep the day moving. That can be me, so it isn't you.

  • Stage & backdrop
  • Flower & garland work
  • Pooja items
  • Thamboolam bags
  • Catering coordination
  • Sound & seating
  • Day-of run-sheet

Decoration from €120 · full-day coordination €180–350 · materials billed at cost with receipts

Tech & software
Tech & software

The day job, pointed at your problem

I build software for a living in Austria. Small businesses here usually need a site that loads fast and a Google listing that's filled in properly — not a €5,000 agency project.

  • Websites & landing pages
  • Android & web apps
  • Laptop & PC repair
  • Upgrades & backups
  • Wi-Fi & printers
  • Google Business setup

Repairs & setup from €40 · small business sites from €400 · fixed quote before I start

Austria, guided
Austria, guided

This country, explained in your language

Parents visiting from India and three days to show them something? I've done these routes many times and I know which stops are worth the train ticket.

  • Hallstatt
  • Wachau
  • Semmering
  • Alpine day hikes
  • Vienna city walks
  • Ticket & route planning
  • Photos included

Day trip guiding €90–150 · transport and entry tickets not included

Note: this is company and local knowledge, not a licensed Fremdenführer service. For museum-guide work inside licensed venues, you'll want an official guide.
Settling in
Settling in

Landing in Austria without the panic

The first two months here are paperwork and confusion. I went through all of it and can save you a lot of wrong queues.

  • Meldezettel
  • Bank account
  • SIM & internet
  • Flat viewings
  • Translation at appointments
  • Indian groceries
  • Honest cost of living

€25/hour when I come along · questions over a coffee are free

Important: this is lived experience, not legal, tax or immigration advice. For anything binding, go to WKO, the Arbeiterkammer, a Steuerberater or a lawyer. I'll tell you which one.
How it works

How it works

No forms, no call centre. Three steps, and you can stop after any of them.

Tell me the job

Message me with what, where and when. Photos of the flat, the venue or the broken laptop help more than a long explanation.

Get a written quote

A price and a time, in writing, before anything starts. If the job turns out bigger on the day, we agree the change first.

Job done, receipt sent

Pay by bank transfer or cash. You get a receipt either way, so we both have a record of what was agreed.

The fine print

Terms, and the things I won't do

Short, readable, and written before you book rather than after something goes wrong. Last updated September 2026.

Booking, quotes and payment
  • Every price on this page is an estimate. The binding number is the written quote I send after I understand the job.
  • For events, 50% secures the date; the rest is due on the day. Everything else is paid after the work is finished.
  • Materials (flowers, decoration, parts, tickets) are billed at cost with receipts, on top of my time.
  • Payment by bank transfer or cash. A receipt is issued for every job.
  • Prices include no VAT unless stated — I'll tell you exactly what applies to your invoice before you commit.
Cancellations and no-shows
  • Cancel 48 hours or more before the agreed time: nothing to pay, deposits returned in full.
  • Cancel inside 48 hours: the deposit covers what I've already bought or turned down.
  • If I have to cancel, you get everything back and I'll help find a replacement.
  • Weather, illness or a genuine emergency on either side: we reschedule, no penalty.
Transport and what the law actually says

This is the part people get wrong, so it's spelled out.

  • I do not run a taxi or chauffeur service. In Austria, carrying passengers for payment is a regulated trade requiring a Taxi- or Mietwagen-Konzession, a Taxilenkerausweis and specific training. I hold none of these.
  • Airport and long-distance trips happen only as cost-shared journeys between people who know each other — fuel and tolls split, no profit, no fare.
  • No driving lessons or driving practice sessions, paid or unpaid. Under the Fahrlehrergesetz only a licensed driving school may teach driving, so I don't offer it in any form.
  • Moving and delivery work is charged for my labour: lifting, packing, assembling and loading.
  • Your goods stay your responsibility. I'm careful, but I'm not an insured removal company — for valuable or fragile items, use one.
Photography, video and image rights
  • You get the edited full-resolution files. They're yours to print, post and share.
  • I keep the right to be named as the photographer if the images are published.
  • I will never post your photos — especially of children or private functions — without your explicit permission, asked for separately.
  • Drone flights only where they're legally allowed. No-fly zones, airport proximity and event permissions are checked first; if it's not allowed, it doesn't happen.
  • Raw/unedited files stay with me. Backups are deleted after 90 days, so please download promptly.
  • Passport and visa photos are produced to the published specification, but the issuing authority makes the final call. I'll reshoot free if a photo is rejected on technical grounds.
Events and catering coordination
  • I coordinate caterers and cooks; I don't cook or sell food. Food safety, allergens and hygiene remain the caterer's responsibility, and I'll tell you who they are.
  • Venue rules, noise limits and permits are the venue's and yours. I'll flag problems I spot, but I can't grant permission.
  • Decoration is removed the same evening or the next morning, agreed in advance.
  • Open flames, fireworks and anything the venue prohibits: not done, no exceptions.
Tech, repairs and data
  • Back up your data before you hand me a device. I take care, but storage fails and I can't guarantee recovery.
  • I don't open or copy your personal files beyond what the repair requires, and nothing is kept afterwards.
  • Parts carry their manufacturer's warranty. My labour is guaranteed for 30 days — if the same fault returns, I fix it free.
  • No pirated software, no bypassing activation locks, no accessing accounts that aren't yours.
  • Websites: source code and accounts are handed over to you. Hosting and domain costs are yours and billed at cost.
Guiding, trips and settling-in help
  • Guiding is local knowledge and company, not a licensed Fremdenführer service or a licensed travel agency package.
  • You book and pay for your own transport, tickets and entry — I'll plan them with you and send the links.
  • Hiking and mountain trips carry real risk. You come at your own responsibility, with proper shoes and clothing, and we turn back if conditions are bad.
  • Settling-in help is shared experience, not legal, tax or immigration advice. For binding answers: WKO Gründerservice, Arbeiterkammer, a Steuerberater, a lawyer or the relevant Magistrat office.
  • I translate informally at appointments where that's permitted. I'm not a court-certified translator (Gerichtsdolmetscher).
Liability, and what I'll turn down
  • I'm one person, not an insured company. Liability is limited to the amount you paid for that job, except where Austrian law doesn't allow that limit.
  • For high-value, high-risk or safety-critical work, hire a licensed and insured business — I'll say so rather than take the money.
  • I will turn down: anything illegal, cash-only-no-receipt arrangements, electrical or gas installation, anything requiring a trade licence I don't hold, and any job I don't think I can do properly.
  • Mutual respect is a condition. Abuse, discrimination or pressure to cut legal corners ends the booking on the spot.
Privacy
  • I keep only what the job needs: your name, contact details, address for the job, and what we agreed.
  • Nothing is sold, shared or used for advertising.
  • Records are kept as long as Austrian bookkeeping rules require, then deleted.
  • Ask me any time what I hold about you, and I'll delete what I'm allowed to delete.
If something goes wrong

Tell me within seven days and I'll either fix it, redo it, or refund that part of the job. I'd much rather hear it directly than read it in a review. If we can't agree, the Arbeiterkammer and the relevant Austrian consumer bodies are open to you, and these terms are governed by Austrian law.

Tell me what you need

What, where, and when. That's enough to start. I answer most messages the same evening — and I'll tell you straight if it's not something I should take on.
